One-Story Ranch Design~low pitch roof, wide over hang, no stairs



Two Story Design~More economical to build, smaller lot and smaller roof


One and one half design~steeper roof,easy to expand, smaller upstairs


Split level design~good to build on a sloping lot, efficient use of space, gives extra privacy

A-Frame deisgn~inexpensive to build, dramatic sloping roof, good roog for cold places with lots of snow fall

French Colonial design~double pitched hipped roofs, surrounded by porches, raised above ground



Chattel house~ movable, settle on blocks or groundsill, built entirely out of wood



Laneway Design~usually one and one half storys, around 550 sq ft usually, built on pre-existing lots



Log Home~ made from logs, hard to maintaine, more expensive to build



Concentric Castle~ enclosed by a wall surrounding it, layout is rectangular, consists of at least one tall tower
